- 1 whole chicken (1.4–1.8 kg)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 2 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- ½ tsp ground cumin (optional)
- 1 lemon, halved
- 3–4 garlic cloves or ½ bulb, smashed
- Fresh thyme/rosemary (optional)
Meal Prep Steps
- Remove giblets from the chicken cavity if present.
- Pat the chicken completely dry with kitchen paper—this is key for crisp skin.
- Tie the legs together with butcher’s twine (optional but helps even cooking).
- Mix all spices in a small bowl.
- Rub the chicken with olive oil, then coat evenly with the spice mix.
- Stuff the cavity with lemon halves, garlic, and herbs.
Cooking Instructions (Air Fryer)
- Preheat your air fryer to 180°C for 3 minutes.
- Place the chicken breast-side down in the basket.
- Cook for 40 minutes at 180°C.
- Carefully flip the chicken breast-side up.
- Cook for an additional 20–25 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 75°C in the thickest part of the breast/thigh.
- Optional glaze: Mix 1 tbsp honey + 1 tsp olive oil and brush over the skin in the final 5 minutes for extra shine.
- Rest the chicken for at least 10 minutes before carving.
