Ingredients (Serves 4)
- 8 beef hot dogs
- 8 hot dog buns
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 tomato, diced
- 2 gherkins, sliced
- Ketchup, to taste
- Mustard, to taste
- Mayonnaise (optional)
- 1 tsp oil or butter
Meal Prep Steps
- Finely chop the onion and dice the tomato.
- Slice the gherkins.
- Open the buns and set aside.
Cooking Instructions
- Heat a saucepan with water and bring to a gentle simmer, or heat a frying pan with a little oil.
- Cook the hot dogs for 5–7 minutes until heated through (simmering) or lightly browned (pan).
- Warm the buns briefly in a dry pan or oven.
- Place hot dogs into buns.
- Top with onion, tomato, gherkins, and sauces of choice.
Storage & Reheating Instructions
- Store cooked hot dogs in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
- Reheat gently in a pan or microwave until hot.
- Assemble buns fresh for best texture.
