Ingredients (Serves 4)

  • 8 beef hot dogs
  • 8 hot dog buns
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tomato, diced
  • 2 gherkins, sliced
  • Ketchup, to taste
  • Mustard, to taste
  • Mayonnaise (optional)
  • 1 tsp oil or butter

Meal Prep Steps

  1. Finely chop the onion and dice the tomato.
  2. Slice the gherkins.
  3. Open the buns and set aside.

Cooking Instructions

  1. Heat a saucepan with water and bring to a gentle simmer, or heat a frying pan with a little oil.
  2. Cook the hot dogs for 5–7 minutes until heated through (simmering) or lightly browned (pan).
  3. Warm the buns briefly in a dry pan or oven.
  4. Place hot dogs into buns.
  5. Top with onion, tomato, gherkins, and sauces of choice.

Storage & Reheating Instructions

  • Store cooked hot dogs in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
  • Reheat gently in a pan or microwave until hot.
  • Assemble buns fresh for best texture.
